Publicity

- UTS Architecture students visit Ararat - 17/6/2008

- Flyer 001 - Inventive Urbanism By : Adam Haddow

- Flyer 002 - Publish to public community

- Ararat a canvas for architect 15/ 07 / 08 By : Ararat Advertiser

We Need Promotional Material!!

Can the group please develop some flyers and any promotional material as we need to promote the project with the various media organisations and Council. Put as much or as little as you would like on the flyer. But pretty much WE NEED TO HAVE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The more we have, the more we can advertise the Studio and our work.
All work needs to be sent to Naomi first for approval. Once this is done it will forwarded to the various media organisations and hopefully put around town.

Thanks

Directions from Adam- to get to Gumnut Camp

From Melbourne.

You will arrive at Ararat from the east along the Highway towards Adelaide
Continue straight ahead and along the main street of the town.
You will pass through a round about and the town hall will be on the right hand side
Continue straight ahead through a set of traffic lights and then through a set of pedestrian lights
Continue straight ahead.
You will be driving up a hill and out of Ararat towards Moyston and Halls Gap
Continue to the township of Moyston (approximately 20 minutes)
Once you enter Moyston the road will turn sharply to the right and there will be a small service station and corner shop right on the bend.
Do not take the sharp right but continue straight ahead keeping the shop on your right.
Continue straight ahead and you will pass an old church on the right hand side.
Continue straight ahead for about 10 minutes until you see the gumnut lodge turn off on a dirt road to the right.
You have made it.

Basically once you hit Ararat just keep going straight ahead and do not make any turns until you reach Moyston.

or alternatively you could drop into the Ararat Tourist Information office on you way through - they are located at the train station.

new admin positions

ok there are some more possible tasks for those of you who do not yet have an administrative role. These are:

- contacting the manager/proprietor of the major manufacturing industries in Ararat to see whether they will come and talk to us, or even take us on a guided tour through their facilities. These are AME (Ararat manufacturing Enterprises) where the contact person is apparently Peter Carthew. I am told that this company 'employs every young person in town'. Another major employer is Gaysons who manufacture farming equipment and so on - I do not have a specific contact there.

- contacting the educational officer at the Ararat prison and seeing whether they will come and talk to us. I don't have a name or a contact but it should be possible to find these online.

- looking into the possibility of a tour or site visit to one of the major wineries in the region, for instance Seppelts, Bests Winery, or Great Western.

- contacting the people at the Ararat YMCA and trying to set up some association with their holiday activity programs.

Let me know if any of you would like to take any of these on...

Accommodation Info

Some confirmations about the accommodation at Gumnut Holiday Camp.

You will need to bring your own sleeping bag and sheets. There are pillows provided but probably good to bring your own pillow case.

There is a kitchen with fridge and utensils for food prep.

It is possible to get some mobile phone coverage in some places.

There is drinking water available.

There are power points in the rooms for heaters etc. I am told the rooms are well insulated, so heaters are up to you…

There is a washing machine and clothes line available.

Payment of $210 ($15 for 14 nights) needs to be made to Belinda or myself on Sunday. CASHHHH is required.

There is a camp fire place. dib dib dib..

A note about arriving. The entry road is gravel so car enthusiasts take note if you are too enthusiastic on this road, you will have the owners to deal with. That and probably the coldest bed and some wildlife apparently.

I'm pretty thin in terms of directions, will get Adam to shed some light here.

Till Sunday,

Jakob
